CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois volleyball team went undefeated at the Southeast Missouri State tournament Saturday, March 31 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Salukis beat Mineral Area Community College, Jefferson College and Tennessee Martin in pool play before taking on SEMO in the championship.

Kristie Berwanger led Southern hitting .387 with 38 kills in the tournament, adding 32 digs. The sophomore recorded just seven errors in 80 attempts at outside hitter.

Middle hitter Chandra Roberson hit .355 with 21 kills and six blocks. Jen Berwanger finished with 25 kills and 39 digs, while Marina Medic added 18 kills and a team-high seven blocks for the Salukis.

Erica Bartruff finished with 108 assists and four service aces, while libero Kristy Elswick led SIU with a 2.4 passing efficiency, adding a team-high 46 digs and six aces.

The Salukis will wrap up the spring season with a tournament at St. Louis University April 14, then play host at a tournament in Davies Gym April 21.
