CARBONDALE, Ill. - Two members of the Southern Illinois men's tennis team and one member of the women's tennis team were selected to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Tennis Team as announced by the league office Wednesday.

Junior Hugo Vidal was selected to the scholar-athlete team for the first time. Vidal maintains a 3.87 GPA majoring in business. Vidal ranked No. 3 in singles during the fall season, giving Southern Illinois their first MVC Individual singles title in 16 years. He finished the regular season with a 13-9 singles record, 8-11 in doubles.

Lucas Waked was selected to the MVC scholar-athlete honorable mention team. The sophomore is majoring in civil engineering and boasts a 3.4 GPA. Waked finished the season with an 11-11 record at No. 1 singles, 11-9 in doubles.

From the women's team, Martina Vianna Ce was selected to the MVC scholar-athlete honorable mention team. Ce is doubling majoring in foreign language and international trade and management, carrying a 3.667 GPA. She finished the regular season with 8-13 singles record, and a 10-12 record in doubles.
