Women's Tennis falls to Indiana State, 7-0

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Salukis fell to Indiana State today, 7-0. The Sycamores (9-6, 7-0) are undefeated in the Missouri Valley Conference at No. 1, while the Salukis (10-10, 3-3) stand at No. 5 behind Illinois State. Indiana State captured the doubles point, winning all three matches for a 1-0 lead. Jennifer Migan and Joanne Schickerling defeated Sabine Tsala Mvilongo and Michela Cruise, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles. Jessica Flannery and Martina Vianna Cé teamed up at No. 2 doubles, falling to Fadzai Masiyazi and Sarah Meghoufel, 8-3. Andrea Courtney and Amanda Taillefer battled at No. 3 doubles, but fell to Marie Caujolle and Valeriia Petrovych, 8-3. In singles action, Migan defeated Tsala at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-0. Cé fought for a win at No. 2 singles, but fell to Meghoufel, 6-2, 6-0. Cruise fell to Schickerling at No. 3 singles, while Flannery was unable to hold off Petrovych at the No. 4 spot. Taillefer battled Masiyazi at No. 5 singles, falling 6-3, 6-4. Courtney rounded out the match at No. 6 singles, falling to Caujolle, 6-0, 6-0. "We played pretty well, especially considering the windy conditions," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "Sabine, Amanda, and Michela all played tough matches, and we really pushed them. They're a tough team and it was a hard match overall." The Salukis are back in action Saturday at Bradley. Match time is set for 1 p.m. Indiana State 7, Southern Illinois 0
