Women's Tennis Downed by Miami (OH), 5-2
March 4, 2007 PADUCAH, Ky. - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team fell to the Red Hawks of Miami (OH) today by a count of 5-2. The Salukis got off to a rough start, dropping two double matches and falling behind 1-0 overall. Sabine Tsala Mvilongo and Agata Skorupska picked up a victory over Kelly Douple and Kristen McPhillips, 8-6. On the singles courts the Salukis looked to battle back, but fell short. Martina Vianna Ce knocked off Jessica Linden, 6-2, 4-6, 10-2, and Tsala Mvilongo defeated Katrina Lomidze, 6-3, 6-1. Although SIU was unable to overcome their early deficit head coach Rene Vidal believes that it was a valuable lesson. "Sometimes a loss can be a win, " said Vidal. "We will make the necessary adjustments to improve." SIU will return to action Tuesday, March 13 against Charleston Southern at 2 p.m. Miami University 5, Southern Illinois University 2
