Women's tennis wins first match of spring season over Northern Illinois

Dekalb, Ill.- The Southern Illinois women's tennis team opened up its spring season on a high note as they defeated Northern Illinois 5-2. The Salukis swept all doubles matches and won four out of six singles events and head coach Audra Nothwehr said she was happy to finally be back out on the court. "This was a good win for it being out first match of the season," Nothwehr said. Fadzai Mawisire defeated Lilian Asuaje in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3 while she paired up with Ame Blacketer to win No. 1 doubles over Nao Umemura and Brooke Forsberg, 8-4. Vishkha Sheoran took home a win in No. 2 singles over NIU's Kathryn Friedlund, 6-1,6-4 and paired with Martina Vianna Ce to win No. 3 doubles. The Salukis will return to action tomorrow as they visit Chicago State at 10 a.m.
