CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Saluki softball program will hold their annual Senior Day, and team up with the American Cancer Society for the Relay For Life Strikeout Cancer Day during the doubleheader against Missouri Valley Conference rival Creighton on Saturday, April 19.

To begin the doubleheader on Saturday at 12 p.m., the family of former Saluki softball player, Kris Stacy, will be welcomed to the field, and Kris' sister Kelly will throw out the first pitch. Kris, who played for the Salukis during the 1980's, lost her battle with cancer this past September.

In addition to the honorary first pitch, both teams and coaching staffs will be wearing purple bracelets in support of Relay For Life.

The American Cancer Society will also have a Relay For Life table set up outside Charlotte West Stadium, and be selling purple bracelets, and remembrance cards for those affected by cancer for a $1 donation.

The SIU softball program will also make a donation to the American Cancer Society following the games on Saturday.

The doubleheader will conclude with a Senior Day recognition ceremony to thank seniors Tiffanie Dismore, Clare Ford, Lauren Haas, Krystal Stein and Becky Wegmann immediately following the second game against Creighton.

The first 50 fans in attendance to the opener of the doubleheader will also receive a free SIU softball seat cushion, compliments of 710 Bookstore.
