Game Notes

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois softball team (23-15, 9-3 MVC) returns home for a midweek Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader against Evansville (18-12, 4-8 MVC) on Wednesday at Charlotte West Stadium beginning at 4 p.m.

The Salukis, who will play at home for their next seven games, will look to continue their season-long eight-game winning streak, and perfect 8-0 mark at home in league play.

SIU has not played a game in a week, after snow cancelled its three-game series at Drake this past weekend, while the Purple Aces are currently on a six-game losing streak after dropping two games at Creighton during the weekend.

The Salukis won the first game of the season series at Evansville last week, 2-0, and lead the all-time series 48-16. Southern Illinois has also won 11 out of the last 12 meetings between the two teams.

The SIU pitching staff has also tied the program record by throwing four consecutive shutouts, and will look to set a record with its fifth-straight.

Both games can be heard live on-line through an internet-only webcast by Patrick Erickson, or viewed on-line through DawgWatch.TV. To access the audio or video of the games, visit www.SIUSalukis.com.
