CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois softball team's weekend series at Drake has been reduced to two games, with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m., due to poor weather conditions in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Salukis and Bulldogs were set for a regular three-game Missouri Valley Conference series, with a doubleheader on Saturday and single game on Sunday prior to the schedule change.

This is the second straight year the SIU and Drake series has been cut short due to weather. Last year in Carbondale inclement weather shortened the three-game series down to a single game, with the Salukis winning 13-5.

SIU leads the all-time series with Drake, 41-17-1, and enters the doubleheader with a season-long eight-game winning streak, after beating Evansville on Wednesday 2-0, while the Bulldogs are coming off a midweek split with Big 12 opponent Iowa State.

The Salukis lead Drake in the MVC standings by a half a game, and are tied with Creighton for first place overall with a .750 winning percentage.

Both of Sunday's games can be heard live through an internet-only webcast by SIU's Patrick Erickson, and can be accessed through the Saluki softball Web page at www.SIUSalukis.com.
