CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team signed two for the 2009-10 season head coach Diane Daugherty announced Monday.

Jenna Dombroski of Champaign, Ill. will join the Salukis from Centennial High School, where she was a four-year letter winner. As a sophomore, Dombroski posted an 18-hole average of 78.6 and a 9-hole average of 40.0. She finished second at the IHSA Regional and Sectionals. As a junior, she posted an 80.6 18-hole average ad 40.0 9-hole average. Dombroski placed second at the Big 12 conference championship and fifth at the IHSA Regional her junior year. As a senior, Dombroski was named the Big 12 Conference Champion. She was an IHSA AA state qualifier 2006-08, as well as helped her team qualify for state for the third time in school history. Holds individual school records for low 18 hole score with a 69 and low 9 hole score with a 31.

SIU also signed Shaina Rennegarbe of Addieville, Ill. Rennegarbe, a senior at Okawville High School, finished fourth out of 98 golfers at the IHSA state championship in 2007. She finished first at the IHSA Regional and second at the IHSA Sectional. Throughout her career, Rennegarbe grabbed four first-place finishes. In 2006-07 Rennegarbe was named Belleville News Democrat Player of the Year and Centralia Sentinel Player of the Year. She was also a member of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch 2nd Team and Illinois High School Class A State Team. Rennegarbe won regional and sectional this year. She also placed third at the IHSA State Tournament held at Hickory Ridge this year.

The Salukis will also welcome Amber Phillips, a walk-on from Carbondale Community High School. Phillips is the younger sister of current Saluki golfer, Lindsey Phillips. With Lindsey graduating in May, Daugherty is excited to have Amber join the team, and looks for her to follow in the Phillips tradition.

"We are very excited about this recruiting class," said Daugherty. "We are losing four seniors, but we have some new players that we are very happy about."

The Salukis wrapped up their fall season at the Kent Youel Invitational on Oct. 28-29, and will begin their spring season at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate Feb. 22-24.
