ROBSON, Ill. - After finishing in 12th place on day one of the North Texas University Classic the Salukis clawed their way back to finish in third place. The Salukis improved on their day one 313 by turning in a team total of 300 for day two. The combined score of 613 placed the Salukis four strokes behind the top two teams. "We finished third, which is a huge comeback from 12th, obviously," said head coach Diane Daugherty. "We shot a 300, which was by far the lowest round of the day. That's the kind of team I know we can be." Kelly Gerlach led the way for the Salukis, shooting a 71 today, which was the lowest score of all competitors. Gerlach's two day total of 147 was good enough to land her in third place overall. Kate Laegeler shaved two strokes off of her day one total with a 77, brining her tournament score to 156 and tying her for 24th. Braidy Hood knocked 13 strokes off of her day one 85, giving her a 72 for the day and a 157 total. Hood finished in a tie for 30th. Lauren May rounded out the Salukis' scoring with a 185 (78-80), tying her for 35th place. Christine Zoerlein shot an 82 on day two, finishing with a 162 and tying for 54th place. The Salukis will return to action on Monday, Sept. 24 at the Myrtle Beach Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Individual Scores:
