Updated Oct. 24, 2008 Drew Thomas enters his second year as a graduate assistant coach at SIU. He organizes film exchange, works with the digital editing system, and coordinates the practice squad, while helping with the various community service projects. He also coordinates all team travel, and holds other administrative responsibilities. "Drew has learned from one of the best women's coaches in the country at Marquette and he is a true young professional in his job," Eikenberg said. "Drew has great respect for hard work and discipline, and his post play knowledge is superior." A native of Earlville, Iowa, Thomas comes to SIU from Marquette where he graduated with his bachelor's degree in history and education. While at Marquette, he worked as a student manager for four seasons with the women's basketball team. He managed team equipment, assisted with film work, team travel and on court instruction under head coach Terri Mitchell. While at Marquette, the Golden Eagles advanced to postseason play all four seasons, including the second round of the NCAA tournament twice. Marquette also finished runner-up in the Women's National Invitational Tournament. Thomas is currently pursuing his master's degree in Kinesiology at SIU. He is the son of Jeff and Donna Thomas of Earlville and he has two brothers, Frank and Nate, a baseball player at Johnson County Community College. |
