Rasheeda Love is in her fifth year as an assistant with the Southern Illinois University women's basketball program.

She handles all aspects of equipment, and all Saluki basketball camps. She also assists with recruiting and perimeter development.

Saluki head coach Dana Eikenberg is pleased with Love's contributions.

"Rasheeda has infectious enthusiasm and strong people skills," Eikenberg said. "Rasheeda loves SIU and is a tireless worker. She is a true player's coach that is always willing to listen and make herself strong."

She's no stranger to the Missouri Valley Conference, as she capped off a two-year career at Bradley University in 2002-03. That year, she led the Braves in both steals (66) and assists (125) en route to making the Valley's All-Defensive Team.

A native of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Love played at nearby John A. Logan College before transferring to BU. While at JALC, she averaged 13.6 points, 3.8 assists and 2.7 steals per game as a sophomore. Love also helped the Vols to a NJCAA Region XXIV tournament title and was named a NJCAA Division I third-team All-American.

Love's strong southern Illinois roots make her a natural fit for the college coaching scene at SIU, according to Eikenberg.

Love recently has also been inducted into the Hall of Fame at Mt. Vernon Township High School.
