Ukabam and Milleville Earn MVC Track and Field Weekly Honors

LOUIS, Mo. - Amarachi Ukabam and Mark Milleville were named the Missouri Valley Conference Female and Male Field Athletes of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday. Ukabam, a junior from Creve Croeur, Mo., competed in her first SIU meet, the Saluki Fast Start, winning two events, breaking two school records as well as a Valley and Gateway mark while provisionally qualifying in two events for the NCAA Indoor Championships. She threw the weight 64-07.75, breaking the all-time SIU record by over four feet. In the shot put, the junior threw 54-06, breaking another school record and shattering the Valley mark which stood at 50-08 set just last season. Milleville, a senior from Altamont, Ill., threw a personal best 61-03.50 in the weight throw at the Saluki Fast Start, placing first and ranking fourth all-time at SIU. In addition to winning the weight, Milleville placed fourth in the shot put with a 50-00.50 toss. This is the first time either Ukabam or Milleville have received the honor.
