BATON ROUGE, La. - Southern Illinois University pole vaulter Ray Scotten will represent the Salukis at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas, next week after finishing second at the regionals held at LSU Friday and Saturday.

The sophomore from Indianapolis cleared 17 feet, 11 inches and was second only to Arkansas' Jeremy Scott, who won the competition with a mark of 18 feet, 2 and 3/4 inches.

Hurdler Emmanuel Daux narrowly missed qualifying for nationals. He advanced to Saturday's finals with a ninth-place preliminary finish of 13.97 in the 110-meter hurdles. He topped that mark with a 13.91 performance in the finals, good for seventh.
