Pre-SIU: Finished first in the conference in the discus as a sophomore at O'Fallon Township High School...was a sectional qualifier as a junior, before garnering second-team all-conference honors as a senior...placed second at sectionals and qualified for state that year as well...also a sectional qualifier on the wrestling team.
