Pre-SIU: Garnered all-conference and all-state honors in both the 400-meter and 200-meter dash as a senior at Proviso East High School...team captain of the track team and co-captain of the football team...ran career-bests of 10.7 in the 100-meter dash, 21.8 in the 200-meter dash and 47.9 in the 400-meter dash...made the Honor Roll three times.
