CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Saluki men's golf team looks to continue their early season success at the John Dallio Memorial tournament in Lemont, Ill. this Sunday and Monday, Sept. 21-22. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by DePaul University at Ruffled Feathers Golf Course, will feature 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday. Along with SIU and host DePaul, the tournament includes Bradley, Georgetown, Eastern Illinois, Wright State, North Dakota State, Detroit Mercy, Dayton, Evansville, Youngstown State, Seton Hall, Drake, Northern Iowa, Loyola and Nova Southeastern. "We had a great start to the season, and we're looking to build on that in this tournament," said head coach Leroy Newton. "The field will be challenging, but we're confident we can do well." Competing for SIU will be seniors Todd Obergoenner, John Danielson and Phillip Collier, and junior Blake Driskell and freshman Luke Daily. Danielson, who was named first team All-Missouri Valley Conference last season, will make his season debut. "We're taking four kids who played well in Kentucky (Wasioto Winds Invitational)," Newton said. "The addition of John (Danielson) will also help after he was unable to play two weeks ago." The Salukis won the John Dallio Memorial in 2004 and finished tied for third in their last visit in 2006. "Traditionally we've excelled at this tournament when it was at Prairie Landing Golf Club," said Newton. "So hopefully we can do just as well now that it's played at Ruffled Feathers."
