PINEVILLE, Ky. - The Southern Illinois University men's golf team opened the fall 2009 season Monday afternoon at the Wasiota Winds Fall Kick-off hosted by Morehead State University. After the first day of competition, the Salukis are tied for eighth place in the 10-team tournament, shooting a combined 592 in the first two rounds of play. Senior Jordan Cox is tied for first place after 36 holes, locked at 137 with Braeden Cryderman of Queens University of Charlotte. Cox's tournament-low second round score of 67 marks his seventh round in the 60s during his tenure at SIU. Just two strokes separate fellow senior Blake Driskell from the top 20, as the veteran rests at a 5-over-par 149. John A. Logan College currently leads all teams at 578, with Northern Kentucky not far behind at 579. Tournament play will conclude with a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday. Last year the Salukis notched a first-place finish at this season-opening tournament - the first of three outright titles for SIU during the 08-09 season. Wasiota Winds Fall Kick-off
