CARBONDALE, Ill. - Saturday's first-ever meeting between Southern Illinois University and North Dakota is part of Military Appreciation Day at McAndrew Stadium. A variety of special events have been planned to honor our Armed Forces throughout the day.

All military personnel, veterans and family members will receive discounted tickets to the game. Tickets can be purchased at the SIU Arena Ticket Office this week, and at McAndrew Stadium, beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday.

Pre-game festivities include a patriotic version of America the Beautiful performed by the Marching Salukis, a 21Gun Salute and Taps conducted by the Murphysboro American Legion, the presentation of Colors by the SIU Army and Air Force ROTC Cadets and a C-130 Hercules flyover by the 182nd Airlift Wing of the Illinois National Guard. In addition, SIU student and Purple Heart recipient Omar Wilson will participate in the coin toss as part of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Halftime will feature numerous military recognitions, a patriotic Salute to Our Troops and a flyover by the United States Coast Guard, piloted by SIU Graduate Lt. Chris Bonner. Former Saluki volleyball players and coaches will also be honored as part of the program's 50th Anniversary celebration.

The Salukis and Fighting Sioux kick off at 2 p.m., CT.
