CARBONDALE, Ill.-Southern Illinois University was ranked 13th in the USA Today Sports Weekly College Football Special Edition Football Championship Subdivision Preseason Top 25. The publication is on newsstands through the month of July.

The Salukis are one of five Missouri Valley Football Conference teams ranked in the top 15. North Dakota State is No. 2, Northern Iowa is No. 9, South Dakota State is No. 14 and Youngstown State is No. 15.

SIU opens its 2008 season against Hampton on Saturday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., CST, at McAndrew Stadium.
