Travis Stepps begins his fourth year on the coaching staff at Southern and is in his second year as a full-time assistant.

Stepps works with the team's cornerbacks and has mentored three, all-conference players in his brief tenure, including All-American Alexis Moreland.

Prior to SIU, he coached for two seasons at Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. His younger brother is currently on the Washburn football team.

As a player, Stepps was a two-time All-American defensive back at Pittsburg State. The Fort Scott, Kan. native earned a bachelor's degree in social studies and education.

In addition to his bachelor's degree, he also has a Master of Science in Education from SIU.
