CARBONDALE, Ill.-Due to the threat of inclement weather this weekend, Southern Illinois University and Western Michigan have opted to move their season-opening series to First Tennessee Fields in Cordova, Tenn.

SIU and WMU, which were initially scheduled to play four games at Abe Martin Field, will now play a three-game set at the neutral location. First pitch of the series is set for Friday at 2 p.m., CST, with a doubleheader to follow Saturday at Noon.

Saluki head coach Dan Callahan said he kicked around the possibilities of playing in Cordova (suburb of Memphis) and at Rent One Park (Marion) prior to finalizing plans today.

"We want to give our guys the best opportunity to play," said Callahan. "The conditions of our field are not up to standard at this time."

Temperatures in Tennessee are expected to be in the mid to upper 40s this weekend according to The Weather Channel.
