2003
Occupied the third spot in the starting rotation for most of the season...made eight starts in 13 appearances...tied for a second-best six wins with a 6-3 record...struck out a fourth-best 25 batters and gave up 19 walks in 54.2 innings...best overall outing of the season was when he struck out three batters in a two-hit shutout against Murray State (3/19)...his eight scoreless innings against the Thorougbreds added to a total of 14.1 on the year...probably the biggest win of his Saluki career came vs. top-seeded Southwest Missouri State (5/23) at the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament...struck out two batters, scattered nine hits and issued one walk in 5.1 innings during that game which put SIU into the tourney's championship round for the first time since 1990.

Held a 2-1 record, while appearing in 12 games...in seven starts, posted a second-best 3.38 ERA...struck out 19 batters in 42.2 innings...of his 19 strikeouts, seven were caught looking...allowed 42 hits and 16 earned runs...pinned opponents to a .247 batting average...fanned a career-high six batters vs. Creighton (3/31), where he won his first decision of the season.

2001
Finished just one out shy of a complete game vs. Murray State...went 9.2 consecutive innings without allowing a run...appeared in nine games, including two starts...registered a 6.17 ERA in 23.1 innings of work...allowed a team-low 23 hits...was also touched for four doubles, 22 runs and a triple...struck out 12 batters...averaged 4.6 strikeouts per nine innings.

A three-sport athlete at nearby Anna-Jonesboro High School...lettered three years in baseball for coach Eric Willis...named team-captain, all-conference, all-area and "Outstanding Pitcher" as a senior...also garnered all-conference honors his junior year...tossed a two-hitter in the regional championship game his senior season...lettered three years in basketball and two years in cross country as well.
