Current, former Saluki athletes to compete in U.S., Bahamas Olympic Trials

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Current Southern Illinois student-athlete Bianca Stuart, along with former Salukis Brittany Riley, Nyles Stuart and Ty-Nica Davis, will compete for their respective countries for the chance to compete at the Olympic Games August 8-24 in Beijing, China.

Riley and Davis will compete at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Ore., June 27 through July 6. Riley will compete in the women's hammer throw, while Davis will race in the 800-meter run.

Bianca and Nyles Stuart, siblings from Nassau, Bahamas, will compete in the Bahamas Olympic Trials Championships held at Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau June 27-28.

Colleen Scott, an assistant scientist in the biology and chemistry department at SIU will also compete in the U.S. trials in the triple jump. She trains on campus along with Dan Taylor, who trains under SIU throws coach John Smith and will compete in the shot put.
