At SIU: Competed in seven indoor and six outdoor meets in 2007...recorded 14 top-10 finishes...placed fifth at the indoor MVC championships and sixth at the outdoor conference championships as a member of the 4x400-meter relay.

Pre-SIU: Comes to SIU from nearby Harrisburg High School...was all-state in the 200 and 400-meter events...helped lead his 4x400 relay team to a Class A state championship in 2004...was also part of a 4x400 relay team which finished second in the state in 2006.

Personal: Full name is Brett Ronald Brachear...majors in Recreation...born December 16, 1987...son of Ron and Sherrie Brachear...his brother, Brad, was a member of the Saluki football team and brother, Blake, is a pole vaulter on the SIU track and field team.
