ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois University senior swimmer Therese Mattsson has been named MVC Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

The Saluki women (3-1) dropped their first dual meet of the season against the University of Illinois last weekend, but Mattsson continued to shine. She notched two first-place finishes in the 200 free (1:52.05) and 100 free (52.11). The Stockholm, Sweden native has finished first in each of the nine races she has competed in so far this year, in meets against the University of Evansville, Vanderbilt University, Washington University in St. Louis, and the University of Illinois.

This marks the first time this season Mattsson has earned this award, and the sixth time in her career.

SIU swimming and diving returns to action Saturday, Nov. 7, traveling to the University of Missouri for a 12:00 p.m. dual meet.
