Lee Land joined the Southern Illinois University Sports Medicine staff in 2001 as an assistant athletic trainer working with the baseball, volleyball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's golf teams. In 2003, Lee's duties shifted to his current assignment as the head football athletic trainer, continuing his work with the tennis teams and becoming the supervising athletic trainer for the sprit groups.

In addition to his athletic training duties, Lee is also an adjunct instructor and accredited clinical instructor in SIU's accredited athletic training education program.

Lee, a native of New Mexico, matriculated at New Mexico State University where he ran the 400m hurdles for the school's track team. He taught and coached at the high school level for two years before earning a degree in athletic training and working at Drake University as a graduate assistant athletic trainer.

Lee and his wife, Diane, reside in Carterville with their children, Shelby and Troy.
