Our bark is heard throughout McAndrew Stadium and throughout the arena, making SIU one of the most intimidating places to play. As the students of Southern Illinois University, we support our Salukis year round in every sport. We stand and cheer on our team, win or lose. We are the Dawg Pound.

Our Mission
The Dawg Pound is a student-based organization that strives to spread Saluki pride by increasing student awareness and attendance for all Saluki Athletic events. In addition, the Dawg Pound creates an intimidating atmosphere while promoting good sportsmanship and the enhancement of the overall student experience at Southern Illinois University.

For the 2008-2009 school year, Dawg Pound members will earn points for each event attended. The more events you attend the more points you earn. Members with the most points at certain periods in the year will have chances to win prizes, participate in extra activities, and attend road trips.

Only students of Southern Illinois University are eligible to join. Students must fill out an application and pay a fee of $15 every year (subject to change). In return students will receive a t-shirt, membership card, early ticket and game entry opportunities, 10% off merchandise and $20 in extra book buyback from our sponsor, 710 Bookstore, and more.

Basketball Student Ticket Policy and Pickup Schedule
Southern Illinois University full-time undergraduate and graduate students can come to the SIU Arena Ticket Office during the specified pickup times to claim their ticket.

Students may also present one (1) fellow student's Student ID to pick up a ticket for that person.

Dawg Pound members must present their membership card as well as Student ID in order to receive a ticket during their designated time. Dawg Pound members must also present a second Dawg Pound card and student ID in order to pick up one (1) additional ticket for a fellow Dawg Pound member during their designated time.

The SIU Arena Ticket Office's hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. At the end of the designated pickup times, any unclaimed student tickets will be opened up for sale to the public. Full-time undergraduate and graduate students will still be eligible for tickets after the end of the pickup time, provided the game is not sold out when claiming their tickets.

Only Southern Illinois University - Carbondale full-time undergraduate and graduate students may use student tickets to attend a game. Student IDs will be checked and validated BOTH at the time of pickup and on game days. 


Student tickets for Saluki Basketball are general admission in sections A, U, L, K, AA, UU, LL and KK. The SIU Arena doors open 90 minutes prior to game time for Dawg Pound members (wearing Dawg Pound t-shirt and presenting membership card and ticket), and one hour for general students and the public. Tickets will be distributed until the end of the assigned pickup time, or until the supply of tickets is exhausted.
